The Not-so Perfect Ankle Boot Now
UPDATE 1/29/25 since I’ve had time to assess the wear of the Vespose ankle boot I cannot say that I would recommend or buy them again. I have worn them maybe three times and the “suede” is already fading. If it truly is suede it is a very poor quality suede. I saw the very first time I wore them the signs of wear and fading, especially on the toes and back sides. No I cannot recommend them now.I ordered this pair of Vepose ankle boots, in a size 6 1/2 which is my normal size, and it’s a perfect, true fit to size. I had bought a pair costing 95.00 at a local department store that I do not like as well that my husband is returning right now. Even though I’m replacing a very well known brand with a brand I’ve never heard of, the Vepose is equally as good. (I did not want leather. I wanted suede and this is what I got.) They are warm, scuff resistant, quiet when I walk, the exact heel height I need for my 5’3”, 69 year old body, and they come with a complimentary, comfortable insole that can be cut perfectly the exact size of your boot with arch support built in. The color is darker than the picture shows but suits me just as well. It says “brown” on the box (I expected camel) but appears to me to be more rust. I can’t say enough good things about these ankle boots. They are perfect for me!

I’m hoping my photo here clears up the debate on here of “they run big” or “they run small”. It’s frustrating but common to read through reviews only to see this contradiction over and over as I’m trying to make a “yah” or “nay” decision on buying a pair of shoes. You’ve been there, haven’t you? In my photo is this shoe on the left and my existing/ probably headed for trash/ have given me many good years booties on the right. There’s obviously a heel height difference and I prefer this height over the old ones. Mostly due to age and a bad back. Although I do think the old ones would look better w/ long pants (more like heels) these heels will do just fine.I’m a solid size 9 with feet that are on the wide side. Nothing extreme but definitely not a narrow or average foot. I saw quite a few reviews here from other “wide footers” who felt this boot was not wide enough. It definitely was wide enough for me and even had space for more width if needed. The width to spare is taken up once the inserts are added but those do not make the shoe too narrow. My photo shows the left foot wearing this shoe and my right foot wearing a pair I already have (also size 9). The fit of this boot is actually better than my existing and very well broken in pair. There’s just enough extra room at the end to not be too long but also keeping my foot from being jammed in. The width is also better than my existing shoe. Now, on to the other big debate w/ this boot- the insert. To insert or not to insert I believe is going to be a personal choice. I was not at all bothered (as some here were) about the feel of the boot w/ out the insert in place. They were not “too hard” to walk in. In fact they were exactly the same as my existing boots if not a bit better. I opted to wear the inserts simply because they felt good. The HUGE advantage of having them is this- I can easily wear them w/ out the insert but w/ heavier socks if I want or need to. Right now it’s summer in LA and I’ve had them on both barefoot and w/ a thinner sock w/ the inserts in place and they are very comfy. I love the idea that when winter comes I have options. I’ve been known to throw way, way more money down on a pair of boots and none until this one came along have given me the option of equal comfort no matter what thickness sock I want to wear w/ them. This gives this boot a huge leg up on any of its competitors.Look and style- a solid good! You cannot see via my pic but I have the decorative outer zipper & I like the look. They don’t look cheap but they also don’t look high end which is A-OK w/ me. Overall I’m happy w/ this purchase. One potential issue- I’m finicky about material and these were touted as “suede upper” w/ man made sole. Suede to me = leather. I do not think these are leather. Perhaps this is a fashion industry misnomer and if you really want leather you need to look for wording like “leather suede”, I don’t know but I’m going to look into it. Fake or “vegan” leather is something I usually avoid because shoes made if all man made materials make my feet sweat. For some reason a fake suede will not come with the same issue. When I look inside the boot where I normally would see the materials broken down and printed it only says “made in China”. Given this I’m going to assume these are not leather.Why 4 stars & not 5? This was a big debate for me and I may change this in the future depending on how well they hold up. I see nothing on them that worries me. I try to reserve 5 stars for items that stand the test of time (which I haven’t yet had) and which are far superior to like minded stuff. These are a very solid good that I may re-rate as superior once I’ve had time w/ them. For now this girl says they are a solid “I recommend you get them”. The only customers I could see possibly not being happy w/ them would be anyone w/ narrow feet. Maybe also a flat footed person since I’m nowhere near flat footed.My feet for reference- solidly wide but nothing extreme, high arch, high instep. These boots do not bother any of my foot issues.Good luck and Godspeed!

Stylish and comfortable – the perfect bootie!
Beautiful and comfortable. I love these boots. I bought them in two colors. They are perfect with my skinny jeans. The heel is a perfect size. I am 71 years young and I do not wear grandma sneakers unless I am going for a long walk! Highly recommend these booties!
