Great skirt for work
Amazon Essentials win again! This ponte pencil skirt is just what I needed to go back to work after having a baby. It’s high waisted and accommodates the current postpartum belly bulge. I ordered size small and ended up sticking with it instead of getting a medium to accommodate the postpartum bod. For reference, I’m 5’4” and 140 lbs. The blue one hides the curves well. The black one, which I also bought, hides the curves even better. While it is great for work, I could see myself wearing this elsewhere. It’s comfortable and attractive. The material is sturdy and washes well. For me, it was still slightly wrinkled after drying so I used a steamer on it. Overall a great skirt.

Good quality and fit, so I bought another one. The thickness of the fabric is just right for all seasons, and it doesn’t wrinkle when wearing. The skirt can go for business, business casual, a night out, or just casual.

Hopefully and this value-priced Amazon Essentials skirt will be offered again in a full range of colors and sizes. I was able to order the only ones left in a burgundy red and a beige (apricot?) color.This skirt is flattering, even on larger women. It’s design, fabric quality, and quality workmanship can make it a timeless staple in your closet. Paired with a silky top, like the one available on Amazon, and a jacket, this skirt is versatile enough to take you from office or church to evening wear.This skirt is true to size. I have 45″ bust, 40″waist, and 50″ hips. I ordered a XXXL. I am 5’2″ tall and short-waisted. There’s no zipper to deal with, instead there is a comfortable, thick elastic waistband.The skirt’s fabric is a mid-weight ponte’ (double) knit that molds to the body but is not clingy. It has a “kick” pleat at the back hem to allow for comfortable walking and sitting. The fabric is thick enough that it is not see-through and does not show ridges from under garment.Though this pencil (straight) skirt is pictured and described as “knee length” most online buyers know that knee length isn’t the same for everyone. The skirt hem is turned up an inch and machine double stitched. After receiving this skirt, I anticipated hemming it up about 3 to 4 inches. For this review I measured the skirt length before and after machine laundering and drying on delicate. I was surprised to find the skirt had shrunk 3.5″ to 22.5″ in length. My photos were taken after shrinkage, which is about 1.5″ too long on my frame.The photos of the beige skirt is shown paired with a color matched Grace Karin sweater for a polished, professional outfit.

Doesn’t flatter figure.
I really didn’t like this skirt. The material is very heavy and so doesn’t drape in a flattering way. It might be better if they had used a different fabric. The cut was ok, but hung very boxy. The color was nice and I would say true to size. Just did not love the fit,

Practical
If you need a basic skirt for work or some other kind of basic skirt event- this one is excellent. It fit me perfectly, it came to just under my knee because I’m pretty short. It was comfortable through the day and washes well- dries in dryer with no wrinkling. It’s very basic and not a head turner, but it also- won’t raise eyebrows in the wrong way.

Too Big and Too Blah
SIZE DOWN! I’m a bigger gal, and sometimes I need Size 18 clothes, sometimes I need Size 20. But they didn’t have an 18/20. So I erred on the side of caution and chose the larger size 20/22. Bad decision, sadly. It was too big to even be called “roomy.” If I jumped up and down, the waist would have been at my knees in seconds, lol. Speaking of knees, this skirt fell below my knees (I’m 5’7″), and that’s not the best length on me. If you’re taller, or have a longer waist, this might work better for you.The fabric is thick and stretchy and felt to be a good quality. But the navy blue option that I got was a ‘blah’ navy that definitely skewed toward the black side of things, not a bright or vibrant navy that couldn’t be confused for black.
